​A specialist cheese shop and cheese eatery, located just off the Strait in Lincoln.

Established in 1997, The Cheese Society is a family-run business, specialising in artisan cheese. After starting out as a mailorder company, The Cheese Society opened their first shop on St Martins Lane, Lincoln in 2001. 

A popular destination for both locals and visiting cheese lovers, the shop stocks a fantastic range of cheeses - many of which are locally produced. 

The shop has a fantastic team of cheesemongers who are more than happy to offer advice - they love introducing customers to new and exciting cheeses, as well as offering their expert knowledge on more traditional products.

Since launching, the Cheese Society have received a number of awards for their cheese expertise. They were voted UK Cheese Shop of the Year for 2019/20, and in June 2022, they were awarded the title of Inspirational Cheese Retailer 2022 by Le Gruyere AOP of Switzerland and Speciality Food Magazine UK.

The shop is in the same premises as The Cheese Society cafe, a small 16 seater cafe serving up classic cheese dishes and wine.

The cheese-based menu here varies seasonally, with dishes such as Double Baked Cheese Souffle, Raclette, and Macaroni cheese on offer. Everything is prepared and cooked in-house and sourced as locally as possible.
