The History of RAF Hemswell

RAF Hemswell had a lot of involvement during the Second World War, as the famous Lancaster bombers were stationed there. The base was used as a replica for RAF Scampton during the production of the iconic Dambusters film in the 1950s.

To commemorate the site, there is a Bomber Command memorial placed at the side of the A631 and a larger memorial with in the antiques centre grounds.
