ShopLincoln.co.uk

is the new shopping website for Lincoln’s city centre and has been created by the Lincoln Business Improvement Group to attract potential shoppers into the city and encourage those already here to find and visit more businesses. It will also serve as a business directory for the city centre, helping visitors search for and locate any business, be it retail orientated or not.

ShopLincoln has the potential to become the focal point for thousands of people before and during their shopping trips to our city so please read on for information on how the website can be useful to your business.

What does ShopLincoln offer shoppers?

Shoppers will be able to search for, read about and locate businesses in the city centre. They can view what special offers are available and save locations on an interactive map to create a shopping itinerary. They will also be able to find out information on where to eat, leisure activities and what’s on in the city centre when they visit.

Shoppers may use the site to plan their shopping trip in advance, using the interactive map to find businesses and plan their shopping trip, and printing it off to use on the day.

Or whilst out shopping they may use a mobile device (perhaps on the new city centre Wifi network) to search for food and drink offers and decide on a place to eat, the location of which can then be emailed to a friend.

Logging in and updating your listing

Updating your listing is an opportunity to tell the visitor who you are and what your product is, if a shopper sees two businesses on ShopLincoln, one which lists information and one which does not, they will be far more likely to visit the listing which has its information listed. When updating you can add a business description, search keywords/products, opening hours, photos, as well as special offers.

The website will always list businesses which have entered their information ahead of those which have not, and in an attempt to be fair these updated businesses will be listed on a rotation basis each time a search/browse displays a new list of businesses, meaning each time a user visits they will not be seeing the same ‘top 10’ list of businesses.

There is no requirement to keep updating in the future, just taking the time to fill in your information once will ensure you are always listed ahead of those who have not done so. Whilst updating your listing you can ensure we have listed you under the correct browsing category, whilst you can also enter keywords such as the products, brands or services you offer, to ensure you are included in the results when people search for them on the website.

Special Offers

A key feature of ShopLincoln for your business is the facility to enter special offers on your listing for free. Visitors can use the website to search for special offers in the same way they would search for businesses.

There will also be the opportunity for the best offers to become one of a limited number of ‘featured’ ShopLincoln offers each month, these offers will be promoted on banners throughout the site.

ShopLincoln and VisitLincoln

ShopLincoln has been designed to work in conjunction with VisitLincoln, a new website currently being developed by VisitLincolnshire to be launched at the same time.

In a nutshell, VisitLincoln is aimed towards promoting tourism in the city and encompasses a broad range of content such as accommodation, things to do, places to visit etc, whilst ShopLincoln is largely concerned with attracting shoppers and helping to promote businesses in the city centre via its interactive map and special offer facilities. The two websites will link to each other where relevant and have similar design and feel to help users navigate between the two easily.

Businesses outside the city centre

At this time we have no plans to expand ShopLincoln's listings beyond our Business Improvement District. However if you are a business in the Lincoln area outside of our BID and would be interested in paying an annual fee of £50 to be listed on ShopLincoln please contact info@lincolnbig.co.uk and once we have sufficient interest we will expand the website.
